Oak Lodge Oak Lodge employs more than 80 compassionate and dedicated staff, all striving to provide exemplary care and has maintained an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating – which puts Oak Lodge in the top 1% of homes in the UK. The team are delighted to have won the “Top 20 Care Home South East England” award in 2024 from carehome.co.uk.
Home Manager Grace won ‘Care Home Manager of the Year’ at the National Care Awards in 2019, judges were wowed by Grace’s passion, humility, and warmth.
At the Hampshire Care Awards in 2023, Oak Lodge was a finalist for ‘Nursing Home of the Year’ with therapist Ying Wiseman winning ‘Ancillary Employee of the Year’ for her reflexology and massage therapies. In 2021, Oak Lodge were runner-up for both ‘South Care Home of the Year’ and ‘Best Outdoor Environment’ at the Caring UK Awards and Home Administrator Jacqui was a finalist in the ‘Care Champion’ category at the National Care Awards.
Grace moved from the Philippines to join Forest Care in 2001 initially working as a nurse at Oak Lodge before blossoming into a superb Home Manager making Oak Lodge an ‘Outstanding’ care home. She has shown true devotion to Oak Lodge over the past 23 years.
Grace won ‘Care Home Manager of the Year’ at the prestigious National Care Awards in 2019. Judges commented; “Grace takes as much care of her staff as she does her residents, we were wowed by Grace’s passion, humility, and warmth. Not only is Grace an ambassador for best practice in her care home, but for the industry at large. Grace wins this national award for her outstanding home”.
Jacqui performs brilliantly in all aspects of her role as Oak Lodge’s Administrator since she joined the team in 2009; dealing with employment checks, enquiries and admissions, whilst being a point-of-contact for residents and their families. Jacqui goes ‘above and beyond’ her role with her continuous contribution to our activities, events and celebrations, she is a true advocate for person-centred care.
For Jacqui, it is always about wellbeing, ensuring no birthdays, special acknowledgements, anniversaries and celebrations go unnoticed with her thoughtful ideas, gifts and special touches for our residents and staff. The happiness of our residents and their families is always a priority for Jacqui. Jacqui was a finalist for the ‘Care Champion’ category at the National Care Awards in 2021 and is a finalist for NAPA’s ‘Unsung Hero’ Award – winner announced in January 2025!
Flora joined Oak Lodge in 2001 initially as a nurse, before becoming our Head of Care, and has shown great compassion and dedication over the past 23 years. Flora is responsible for managing the clinical care of our residents which involves supervising our Nurses, Senior Carers and Care Assistants and collaborating with our home GP, to ensure every resident receives person-centred care in accordance with their assessed needs and care plans. Flora takes a holistic approach to care which incorporates the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of our residents.
Our compassionate and experienced Nurses are on-site 24/7 and are responsible for managing the clinical care of our residents. If you or a loved one has a clinical nursing need such as wound care, catheter care, tube feeding or specialist medication by injection e.g., for diabetes, then you will typically need nursing care. Our Nurses take a holistic approach to care, which incorporates the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of our residents and will collaborate with our home GP and support Senior Carers and Care Assistants to ensure every resident receives person-centred care in accordance with their assessed needs and care plans.
Our compassionate and dedicated care team comprises of Senior Carers and Care Assistants who help residents with their personal care, day-to-day living, and immediate needs. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for our residents with a safe, comfortable, happy, ‘home-from-home’ environment, providing support and care to enable our residents to retain their independence wherever possible. Our Carers work selflessly in striving to deliver the highest standards of person-centred care to our residents.
To provide the care our residents deserve, we set our staffing levels above industry-standard ratios, to enable a more relaxed environment for our residents where person-centred care can be delivered without having to be rushed.
Oak Lodge’s activities team prioritise resident wellbeing with meaningful and joyful group, individual and one-to-one activities and experiences adapted to the daily wishes of residents and supported by their life stories.
Some of the many activities we provide are; cultural days, themed tea parties and dining experiences, floristry workshops, gardening club, arts & crafts, beauty sessions, trips out to nearby attractions, live musical entertainers – tap, jive and Irish dancing, Ukulele players, Motown singers, tribute acts and visiting animals – alpacas, monkeys and even penguins to name a few!
Our Head Chef Tracey joined the Oak Lodge team in 2001 as a weekend Chef before progressing to Head Chef and has shown great passion and commitment over the past 23 years.
In Tracey’s words, “Good food and nutrition is important to everyone, especially the elderly. I am passionate right from the start- from planning and ordering, through to cooking and serving the food to our residents. I carefully consider each of their likes and dislikes and enjoy seeing empty plates and well-nourished residents. I’m proud to be part of the residents lives here.”
Every team is integral to the running of our care home. We are fortunate to have a team of hard-working and compassionate individuals in housekeeping, which comprise of domestic and laundry. Not only do they help with the smooth running of the home, but they also contribute to the social and hospitality experience our residents enjoy.
Lubo is our passionate and dedicated Handyman who works very hard fixing things and making sure our Oak Lodge care home runs smoothly. Lubo ensures any maintenance and repair works are carried out promptly and efficiently with minimal disturbance to our residents. He also helps with planting flowers to decorate our landscaped gardens.
Lubo is your man if you require shelving and putting up pictures, carpet cleaning or any general maintenance to make your room as comfortable as possible.
Nigel is our talented Groundsman who ensures our outdoor spaces are kept beautifully presented and a place to relax for our residents and their families. Nigel maintains our wildflowers, plants and trees, he continually brings new ideas to our outdoor spaces and helps to build new features within our gardens for our residents to explore.

Forest Care is delighted to announce that CQC has rated Oak Lodge ‘Outstanding’ on its most recent inspection. This means that the service we provide is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. A great achievement for all the team at Oak Lodge in Basingstoke.
Every year we celebrate the long service of our staff with our Years of Service Awards at Forest Care. We thank staff with gifts of flowers, chocolates and vouchers and celebrate with cake and bubbly! We proudly have a high number of long serving staff at Oak Lodge, which positively impacts on the continuity of care given to our residents.
