Our activities team prioritise resident wellbeing by organising a variety of meaningful and joyful multi-sensory activities and experiences for our residents living with dementia. Activities are designed to stimulate cognitive ability and evoke cherished memories, and include ‘Music for Health’ sessions, ‘Guess the scent’ games, baking and gardening with different aromas and textures, colourful and textural arts & crafts, Pets as Therapy visits (including alpacas, piglets, cavies and penguins to name a few!), outdoor games and sports days, beauty sessions with hand massages, incorporating themed props into live music sessions and cultural events, and textured balls during exercises. Community outreach is important at Holly Lodge, taking residents to local ‘Melody of the Mind’ sessions as well as intergenerational socialisation with school children and toddler groups.
Holly Lodge is a member of NAPA (a leading activity and engagement charity), and we have also partnered with Famileo where families can share updates and photos from their own day-to-day lives via the Famileo app to create personalised newsletters for our residents.
