Based at our stunning, brand-new care home, Elm Lodge in Hartley Wintney, RG27 8JG. Newly opened, Elm Lodge is a 60-bedded care home providing residential care and offers a fantastic opportunity to set the foundations of an outstanding home.

We are looking for a reliable, caring Kitchen Assistant who wants to make a difference by contributing to providing the best care possible at all times. At Forest Care, we are proud to create positive working environments in each of our care homes by encouraging employee participation and humour in the workplace.

Starting salary £12.25 per hour. 21 hours a week required, 3 x 7 hour shifts a week with rotating weekends. Flexibility required with shifts of various timings.

Main Duties of our Kitchen Assistants; 

  • To prepare food and cook in a hygienic manner.
  • Clean and wash pots, pans and other kitchen utensils and items.
  • To be aware of the residents’ dietary needs and respond to their comments and requests in respect of the menu.
  • To hold a suitable food and hygiene certificate – training can be given.
  • To dispose of waste correctly.
  • To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods.
  • To contribute in the serving of food.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

Skills and Experience of our Kitchen Assistants;

  • Previous experience working within a kitchen environment
  • High level of written and spoken English

 Main Duties of our Senior Care Assistants;

  • Ensure all junior staff contribute to the best of their ability; in both the efficient running of the home, and its atmosphere.
  • Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet.
  • Assist with medication administration as required/directed
  • Assist residents with mobility problems and/or other physical disabilities.
  • Promote the mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, and any other hobbies that they might have.
  • Assist residents at meal times if required
  • Read and write reports in case notes.
  • Answer emergency bells
  • To undertake any other duties as required by line management

Skills and Experience of our Senior Care Assistants;

  • NVQ Qualification – NVQ 3 essential.
  • A genuine willingness to care for Senior Adults within a Care Home environment
  • Previous experience in leading or supervising a Care Team desirable
  • High level of written and spoken English
