Our activities at our Surrey care home are planned around each person living with dementia in accordance with their care needs, daily wishes and cultural interests. There are gentle activities for residents who are less mobile and able. We involve families in care and activity planning, using life story work to shape the way we engage with our residents in an interesting and meaningful way. A personal understanding of what really matters to each resident, the things they enjoy, their life histories and their achievements, helps to create a reassuring and stimulating environment.

A person living with dementia may require a specialist dementia care home when they are struggling to live independently and it is no longer safe for them to remain in their own home. The latter stages of dementia can be challenging, when is the right time to move into a care home and who should make that decision. Specialist dementia care can help to meet the needs of people living with dementia as their condition progresses and eases the distress of those who have been caring for them.
A specialist dementia care home – like Holly Lodge at Forest Care, is a home that has the facilities and staff to look after the elderly of all stages of dementia. Specialist dementia care homes and their highly skilled teams look after the residents with the focus to minimise the dementia symptoms where they can through providing suitable activities, therapies, support etc.
Our teams work individually with the residents and remind them historically of their lives, and memories. Specialist dementia care homes provide a type of care that can work with later-stage dementia patients. To find out whether your loved one requires this level of dementia care, get in touch with our team and we will assist you all the way from enquiry to the move.
